Lying in the Deep
Books
Okay, A girls best friend and bf betrayed her and ended up with one another, cutting her off with no explanation. Jade goes on this cruise for school hoping to forget about all that happened and all the hurt she felt. But, there's one problem, her ex bff and ex bf are there. The story follows Jade as she and a guy named Felix try to find out the truth of Laineys murder. As they go along things get more and more complicated, especially when two other ppl turn up dead. Felix tried to convince Jade it was her ex bf that killed Lainey but Jade isn't convinced bcs of her unresolved feelings for him. Jade comes to find out that Lainey was the one that caused Silas and her to break up. Later on we find out that Felix isn't who he says he is. He is actually Laineys cousin and... she is actually alive. Lainey had created this elaborate ruse to escape her father and Silas. Lainey was trying to expose her father's corruption (which the book seems to circle around, everyone including Tate and Felix had a problem with the business) but Silas happened to see Lainey stealing files. He blackmailed her, getting her to sleep with him so her wouldn't tell. Lainey thought that since he was such a jerk it would be best for Jade and him to break up. She bored the boat with the plan for her to "die." However, Jade through a wrench in the plans when she started digging. The plan was to blame Silas for Laineys murder. Turns out Silas believed Tate had done it. In an act of revenge, Silas killed Tate and made it look like suicide. But someone saw Silas and in order to cover his tracks, he killed Laineys friend who had seen him. Due to Laineys death, Silas became a murder. But we learn that he wasn't a good guy to begin with. Jade stated that everything was always about him and he did drugs. In order to make sure Lainey was still able to escape and Jade wouldn't be blamed for anything, they pinned it all on Silas, who was eventually caught. Then Laineys dad shows up as Silas is being taken prisoner and shoots him. Right as Felix and Lainey are escaping, thus sealing Laineys escape. There was no one to worry about and she would be safe. Jade got her bff back but then lost her again (at least this time it wasn't bcs she was dead or ghosting her) and she found someone else she loved. Felix.
